Part two will present "The Dream", a one act opera by Eugene composer Ashley Hastings. Written for Jocelyn Claire Thomas and Emily Pulley, Hastings sums up the plot by asking a series of questions: "What happens when an author's main character shows up at her door and demands changes in her story? Who's awake? Who's asleep? Who's dreaming? Who knows?" With an abundance of humor, wine, and Oregon references, this show is sure to delight!

Opera Picnic

Sunday August 24th 5:30pm

Ping & Woof Opera presents: "Così fan tutte", Mozart's comedic masterpiece about the nature of love and relationships. Sung in Italian with English dialogue, this light hearted musical staple contains some of Mozart's most glorious melodies.
Cast:
Fiordiligi - Kari Burgess
Dorabella - Rebecca Sacks
Despina - Jocelyn Claire Thomas
Ferrando - Anthony Nguyen
Gugliemo - Zach Lenox
Don Alfonso - DeAndre Simmons
Pianist - Claire Forstman

The story begins with experimental philosopher "Don Alfonso", who wants to overturn the perfect, formulaic worlds of two young men, "Ferrando" and "Gugliemo". He bets them that both their fiancées would not stay faithful if tempted, and the challenge is accepted.
Before long, the fiancées "Fiordiligi" and "Dorabella" (who are also sisters) discover that their lovers are leaving to 'go to war', and suddenly two handsome strangers (Ferrando and Gugliemo in disguise, obviously) arrive on a mission of seduction. As Don Alfonso ups the ante and throws increasingly extreme situations at all four lovers, they begin to react emotionally and each character can’t help but discover – and reveal – who they really are. Who will end up with who?

Bring your own picnic and low backed chair or blanket and wine glass. Wine will be sold by the bottle upon arrival. $25 per person. Reservations required.
