Experience an afternoon of shimmering French artistry at our upcoming "Concerts in the Conservatory" performance by Ping & Woof Opera and featuring soprano Jocelyn Claire Thomas, baritone Zach Lenox, and pianist Nathalie Fortin. Set in the breathtaking Conservatory at Villa Catalana, this unique program showcases the elegance and passion of French repertoire with works by Georges Bizet, Cécile Chaminade, Maurice Ravel's "Cinq Mélodies Populaires Grecques", and Joseph Canteloube's Songs of the Auvergne series 1 and 3 .
Join us on Sunday, February 1st at 3pm for an intimate musical journey surrounded by the lush beauty of Villa Catalana's glasshouse sanctuary, a perfectly cozy setting for winter time! This promises to be an unforgettable afternoon of world-class performance and enchanting atmosphere.
Wine will be available by the bottle and charcuterie plates will be available for pre-purchase*. No outside food or beverage please. Gates open at 2:15pm. The cost is $25 for the concert (per person). Our wine price ranges from $25-30 per bottle and can be purchased upon arrival. Wine purchase is optional.

String Trio - Pacific Rose Ensemble

Join us in the Conservatory February 22nd, for a Sunday afternoon filled with the sounds of a string trio. The talented trio of musicians from the Pacific Rose Ensemble, expect to perform: Schubert - String Trio in Bb Major, D. 471, Haydn - String Trio, Op. 53 No. 1, Mozart - Divertimento for String Trio in Eb Major, K. 563 and more. All together, this program is about 80 minutes with all three Haydn pieces.
The musicians will be:
Amir Avsker, violin
Mason Givens, viola
Gavin Conant, cello
Amir Avsker is one of the most promising young artists of the Pacific Northwest. Born in Israel, he currently studies piano with Professor Brian Hsu at the University of Oregon with a full tuition scholarship. Named the 2023 Young Artist in Residence of Portland’s All Classical Radio Station. Also a violinist, he has served as the concertmaster of the Metropolitan Youth Symphony and the Pacific Rose Ensemble, the latter of which he founded and directed from 2023-2025. He has conducted the Metropolitan Youth Symphony on several occasions, including on tour in Spain and Portugal in 2024.
Mason Givens, a former member of the Portland Youth Philharmonic and principal violist of the All-Northwest Honor Orchestra. From 2020–2025, he studied with Alan de Veritch, former Principal of the LA Philharmonic and professor at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Currently, Mason is studying viola performance at the University of Oregon with Professor Arnaud Ghillebaert. In addition to performing, he is an active composer, writing for string quartets, solo works, symphonic ensembles, and more.
Gavin Conant is studying as a Music: Performance major at Portland State University and preparing for physical therapy school after his undergraduate degree. He hopes to combine his knowledge of music playing and physical therapy to help musicians maintain their bodies at their highest performing level.

Spanish Guitarist - Ryan Walsh

Award-winning composer and classical guitarist, Ryan Walsh, will join us in the Conservatory this March. His original compositions blend classical structure with the lyricism of Spanish tradition and contemporary influence, inspired by figures such as Satie, Bach, Albéniz, and Rodrigo. Whether performing, arranging, or composing, Ryan’s music aims to transport listeners to another place, another time, or somewhere entirely their own.
